personal brandingIf you are thinking about going solo on a project, consider how you are going to use personal branding strategies to differentiate yourself from the crowd. I'm working on a project for publication in a few months, and it's a how to book of alternative cooking methods. My predecessors in this field have all focused on vegan or vegetarian cooking, and I'm positioning myself as an omnivore who enjoys great food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy or cook. My personal branding is going to be a celebration of the wonderful, inherent flavors found in foods when they are properly cooked. I have absolutely nothing against vegetarian cooking at all. In fact, fruits and vegetables are among my favorite foods, but I don't want my personal branding to be in the ilks of those who are so opposed to eating an omnivore diet. I want to be seen as an all around cook with a focus on healthy and affordable eating, not to mention delicious. When you're entering a competitively crowded field, it really helps to use personal branding to stake your place in your field.
