Let's face it - there is no leadership gene. In fact, there is so much evidence pointing to leadership emerging from social factors and learning that there really is no substance in the phrase, "Natural born leader." Although, it is catchy and a good phrase to use nevertheless :).

In all seriousness, though, leadership training happens throughout life. So many studies have shown that males who develop earlier physically are rewarded with more attention, and as a result develop more confidence and intelligence, as well as performance in their careers later in life. Your leadership training happens from the people around you who are positive influences (and negative too, if you learn how to turn those into opportunities to improve), as well as the mentors and coaches in every day life like school teachers, sports coaches and peers.

True leadership training doesn't happen in a weekend seminar - it happens by becoming aware of life and the many coaches that are around you everyday. People all around you have something to offer you - just be patient and listen.
