As we learned in elementary school, duck, cover and hold should be the first thing employees do in the case of an earthquake. If there is nothing to duck under then a door jam is the best place to be.

Once a month employees should have to take part in an earthquake drill so everyone knows where the safest hiding places are. Having first aid kits, flashlights, battery operated radio, water and perishable food is a must. Drawing up a crisis management plan will allow you and your employees to sleep better at night.
